Work Hours/Shift:

Full-Time, Monday – Friday

You Will Be Responsible For:

  • Create wireframes, mockups, prototypes, information architecture, navigation models, screen flows and other UX deliverables independently.
  • Collaborate with UI designers on design patterns for navigation, product page design, etc.
  • Translate research findings into design recommendations and communicate those recommendations through reports and presentations independently.
  • Conduct competitive analyses of other websites that operate in similar spaces at an advanced level.
  • Collaborate with content strategy leads on content focused solutions.
  • Collaborate with creative leads on process, interaction design and flows.
  • Communicate with engineers throughout the development process to make sure features are implemented in a way that meets user needs and proper design specifications.
  • Focus on the customer, continually using design research methods to uncover customer insights in partnership with research team.
  • Present and defend designs and key milestone deliverables to peers and leaders.
  • Participate in user-research and usability testing activities at an advanced level.
  • Key contributor in ideation sessions/design studios, design walkthroughs with development and other stakeholders.
  • Support associate and intermediate team members, mentoring, instructing and optimizing their deliverables as well as their professional growth.
Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams translating user needs, grounded in research findings, into product improvements.
  • An advanced level of fluency in best practices for visual and interaction design, user-centered design process, as well as strong knowledge of typography, color, motion, and branding
  • A portfolio demonstrating conceptual thinking, creative problem solving and deliverables (e.g. user flows, wireframes, prototypes, user interface specifications).
  • Passion for innovation, balanced with business needs, and customer expectations.
  • An advanced level of visual design, typography, layout, and color sensibilities and skills.
  • Committed to continual learning and expanding professional and technical knowledge.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, time management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to work cross-team and synthesize feedback and input from product management, engineering, and operations.
  • Proven ability to initiate and lead design discussions, and demonstrated experience in collecting and using feedback

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED:

    • Software: Photoshop, Figma, Sketch, Illustrator, InVision, Microsoft Office, UserTesting.com, Loop11, UsabilityHub.com, OptimalWorkshop.com
    • A/B testing methods, directed interviews, non-directed interviews, ethnographic interviews, surveys, card sorts, moderated usability tests, unmoderated usability tests, guerilla tests, tree tests
    • Experience leveraging web analytics tools to gain key insights
    • Certified Usability Analyst

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Interaction Design/HCI, or Visual Communications or related field. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 5 years relevant work experience and a current portfolio is required.
  • 5+ years of experience gathering insights from customers to inform design & business decisions as a user experience designer, user researcher, or similar role.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

    • Master's degree in Human Computer Interaction, or a related field
    • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process
    • Experience with data visualizations, gamification systems, telematics and /or behavior design

Summary:

The senior UX designer is a pragmatic visionary that can translate business needs into a tangible customer-focused solution. They will be responsible for designing and maintaining high quality digital experiences using design thinking and lean UX process. The senior UX designer is responsive, flexible, and able to succeed within an open and collaborative peer environment. The senior UX designer collaborates closely with leadership, product, stakeholder and design teams to ensure relentless focus on our consumer’s needs. The senior designer is guided by the UX manager (or supervisor) to set priorities for the work of own, and other design team members, recommending a clear plan to deliver an exceptional user experience—blending research learnings and UI patterns. The senior UX designer is able to work independently on projects, with limited instruction from UX manager or lead.
