Qualifications
What you will be responsible for:
  • Demonstrates, through behavior, Florida Hospital East Region’s core values of Compassion Behaviors, Image Standards, Elevator Etiquette and Telephone Etiquette.
  • Registers patients by gathering all patient demographic and financial information. Determines proper financial class and payer codes by requesting insurance information. Verifies insurance eligibility and benefits. Completes medical necessity checks, as applicable
  • Ensures accurate use of the hospital system and proper identification of each patient by searching the hospital system by social security number, last name, first name and date of birth for previously assigned numbers as documented by HIM.
  • Enters correct clinical information regarding physician, complaint and diagnosis using the proper coding in the current physician listing and coding program to meet the requirements of JCAHO and other licensing agencies.
  • Computes patient liability. Communicates and collects patient liability. Collects and receipts payments and provides accurate patient receipts. Alerts Financial Advocates of accounts with financial clearance issues, ensuring the Service Rendering Policy is followed.
  • Reviews prior bad debt accounts and requests payment of outstanding accounts. Documents all oral and written communication relating to the patient’s service.
  • Maintains accuracy of registration by correcting errors immediately as identified. Achieves 99% accuracy rating at the conclusion of the 90 day probationary period and maintains 99% on an ongoing basis. Responsible for achieving all individual and department goals.
  • Protects the legal and financial standing of Florida Hospital East Region by obtaining appropriate signatures on the consent to treatment, authorization forms and other forms as required by the payer and organization.
  • Follows FH East Region Point of Service and Service Rendering Policies for all members of the community regardless of age, race or gender.
  • Relieves other registration areas and PBX as required during absences, breaks and lunches.
  • Performs any other clerical duties as assigned by Director or Manager.
What you will need:
  • An Associate Degree is preferred.  A high school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Minimum 1 year experience in Customer Service setting is required.
  • College course or the equivalent in computer programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point) is encouraged.
  • Must have typing skills of at least 40 WPM. 
  • Proficiency in the performance of basic math functions, capability to communicate professionally with an acceptable use of English and spelling.
