Work Hours/Shift:
  • Full Time, Monday – Thursday, 8:00am – 5:00pm and Friday from 8:00am – 2:30pm

You Will Be Responsible For:  

  • Provides diabetes instruction in group and individual sessions, in accordance with patient education standards set by the American Diabetes Association and departmental policy. 
  • Provides education in all content areas except insulin administration, insulin pump, or continuous glucose monitoring. 
  • Provides day, evening and weekend education programs as requested at any AdventHealth Campus. 
  • Obtains individual patient assessment.  Identifies patient/caregivers problems/learning barriers including physical, cognitive, environmental, psychosocial, cultural, language and spiritual and provides appropriate resource referral as necessary
  • Establishes individualized learning goals, objectives and educational plan in collaboration with the patient and family.  Able to assess and interpret data relative to patient’s age and diagnosis.  Prescribes an appropriate nutrition plan based on identified needs and diagnosis.
  • Actively participate and accepts responsibility for special projects such as risk testing, speaker requests, support groups and other community events designed to increase diabetes awareness.  Participates in healthcare professional education programs as assigned.


Qualifications
What You Will Need:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics
  • One year of experience in field
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration
  • Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) by the National Certification Board of Diabetes Educators (NCBDE).
  • Bilingual: Spanish (Preferred)
  • Valid State of Florida Licensure as a Registered Dietician (Preferred)
Job Summary:

The Outpatient Diabetes Educator – Registered Dietitian, under general guidance, is responsible for providing age specific diabetes self-management education to patients and healthcare professionals.  The Educator provides diabetes education services in a new core delivery model as a therapeutic lifestyle coach for corporate organizations and their employees.
