PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Pharmacy Technician works under the supervision of the pharmacist for performing technical and clerical duties, not requiring professional judgment. The technician works in cooperation with all members in assisting to provide quality pharmaceutical care services in a timely and cost-effective manner. The Pharmacy Technician performs duties as assigned by the pharmacist/ director in compliance Gordon Hospital goals and objectives.
  • Assist Pharmacy Buyer in keeping list of medications for order each day
  • When the Pharmacy Buyer is out of the office, the technician will scan the drug order when received from the wholesaler, place on the shelf and place new order for the following day
  • Place ticket with PharmNet, to add to formulary, all drug products received from the wholesaler that are not loaded in Cerner
  • Maintain all refrigerator, cleaning, temperature and hood logs at the beginning and end of each shift
  • Fill the IV or PO medications from the Batch report by 3pm daily
  • Promptly respond to all requests from Nursing listed in the Medication Request Queue in PowerChart
  • Deliver STAT and NOW medications within 15 minutes of request time
  • Deliver missing medications on the hour to each nursing unit
  • Deliver PO and IV medications and fluids to the Pyxis machines in a timely manner
  • Compound IV medications as ordered throughout the day
  • Deliver IV and PO medications that are ordered throughout the day
  • Pyxis troubleshooting as needed within pharmacy and on the nursing units
  • Prepack and unit dose medications as needed throughout the day
  • Flag label bulk products for placement in Pyxis
  • Fill anesthesia carts and OR/OB OR fluids daily
  • Inspect all Crash Carts and restock monthly
  • Update labels on pharmacy inventory for yearly inventory
  • Provide excellent, courteous customer service to employees outside of the pharmacy department
 
Qualifications
What you will need?
  • High School graduate
  • Georgia Pharmacy Technician License
  • Automated medication dispensing process
  • Appropriate Aseptic technique
  • Basic math concepts
  • Basic pharmacy inventory knowledge
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician preferred
  • Two years hospital pharmacy technician experience preferred
  • One year IV compounding experience preferred
