Service Representatives – Clinics – Medicine Specialists – Orlando

Florida Hospital Orlando seeks to hire a Service Representative who will embrace our mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ.

Facility Profile:

Located on a lush tropical campus, our flagship hospital, 1,107-bed Florida Hospital Orlando, serves as the major tertiary facility for much of the Southeast, the Caribbean and South America. Florida Hospital Orlando houses one of the largest Emergency Departments and largest cardiac catheterization labs in the country. We are already one of the busiest hospitals in the nation, providing service excellence to more than 32,000 inpatients and 125,000 outpatients each year.

Work Hours/Shifts:

Monday through Friday; 8a – 5p

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Front Office Manager, the Service Representative accurately registers new patients in the computer system and updates insurance and demographic information on established patients. Collects patient co-pays for services rendered. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

Knowledge, Skills, Education, & Experience Required:

  • Must pass the standard PFS test
  • Strong communication skills (Preferred)
  • Organizational skills (Preferred)
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure (Preferred)
  • Multi-tasking ability (Preferred)
  • Phone skills and etiquette (Preferred)
  • Basic computer skills (Preferred)
  • Physician office experience (Preferred)
  • High school diploma or equivalent (Preferred)

Job Responsibilities:

Demonstrates through behavior Florida Hospital’s Core Values of Integrity, Compassion, Balance, Excellence, Stewardship and Teamwork as outlined in the organization’s Performance Excellence Program

  • Fills various front office positions within scope of training. Floats to like positions at other Graduate Medical Education offices when assigned.
  • Greets patients warmly and in a timely manner.
  • Requests and verifies patient demographic and insurance information in order to register all patients in a professional manner according to Medical Education guidelines.
  • Obtains and/or updates patient consent forms and files appropriately.
  • Obtains a copy of the insurance card(s) and verifies eligibility before the patient is checked in.
  • Collects appropriate co-pays and past due balances and documents co-pays due for services rendered and completes check-in process.
  • Answers calls promptly using scripted opening greeting, identifying department and self, and refers to appropriate department.
  • Balances the cash drawer and daily receipts to the user batch report on a daily basis.
  • Works well within the organizational framework to achieve hospital/departmental goals and objectives including, but not limited to the facility Business Plan.
