We are currently seeking qualified candidates for a Vice President, Clinically Integrated Network (CIN) for our West Florida Division located in Tampa, Florida. Reporting to the Senior Executive Officer for Non-Acute Services, the VP of CIN will serve as an active member of the senior leadership team and will be principally accountable for the division. This executive will be a strategic thought leader, a strong operator and someone who can take on additional responsibilities over time.
General Summary:
The Vice President of the Clinically Integrated Network is responsible for effectively managing and overseeing programs that prepare for or are supportive of value-based care arrangements. Ensures the programs, services and care models of the region support the various population health services strategies and risk/value-based agreements with payers, employers, unions and individuals. Works collaboratively to unify the entire spectrum of health system interventions from prevention and promotion to diagnosis, treatment and care and integrates and balances action between them. Serves as the president of Physician Alliance of Florida Hospital (PAFH) and provides strategic leadership and direction, network expansion and adequacy, care management services and related infrastructure as it relates to the population health/value-based care arrangements. The VP works directly with the SEO in determining the strategic direction of PAFH and identifies interrelated conditions and factors that influence the health of populations over the life course, identifies systematic variations in their patterns of occurrence, and applies the resulting knowledge to develop and implement policies and actions to improve the health and well-being of those populations. Aims to improve the health of the entire population and to reduce health inequities among population groups. Assists in the leadership and development of care providers who manage the related resources required to meet the needs of patients, physicians, the public and staff. Ensures compliance with the organizational compliance plan and the rules and regulations of all applicable local, state, and federal agencies, and regulatory and accrediting bodies. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
Job Duties:
  • Create a broad-based network of physicians that includes private practice community physicians and physicians employed by local hospitals.
  • Responsible for the effective operational support and achievement of the governance committees including the Board of Managers and its support committees.
  • Implement the strategic vision of the West Florida Division.
  • Develop and implement the business plans approved by the President or his/her designee in consultation with the Board of Managers.
  • Create and justify the value of the clinical integrated network to the physician participants.
  • Develop innovative payment models that recognize value as a basis for payment.
  • Identify and implement quality of care, safety and efficiency initiatives that result in measurable improvement in care, safety and cost savings in the community.
  • Accountable for financial performance of the CIN consistent with the annual budget and long-term business plan.
  • Function as the industry expert as related to CINs in the areas of community health improvement, patient quality and safety.
  • Have such other powers and duties as may from time to time be prescribed by the SEO of Non-Acute Care or the CEO of the Division.
Qualifications
Knowledge and Skills Required:
  • Expert knowledge of population health strategies and clinically integrated network dynamics.
  • Skilled at the deployment of clinical practices and processes, legal and regulatory requirements and mandates, and the ability to gather and evaluate data and outcome results to use in planning hospital operations, budgets, and process improvement.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; able to effectively express ideas and views through public speaking, presentations, reports, and professional correspondence.
  • Exceptional people management, leadership skills, and the capacity to relate to people in a manner that wins confidence and establishes support.
  • Strategic vision and thinking; ability to position the organization for the future, looking beyond the present situation to conceptualize key trends and identify changing market demands.
  • Strong business acumen, intelligence, and capacity; able to think strategically and implement tactically.
  • Approach his/her work as an interconnected system; able to understand major objectives and break them down into meaningful action steps.
  • Strong organizational abilities and the flexibility to adjust to changing conditions and the various details of the position.
Education, Licensure and Experience:
  • M.D. / D.O. degree from an accredited program.
  • Master’s degree in business, healthcare administration or related field
  • Board certification in recognized medical specialty
  • Minimum of 10 years of leadership experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a senior leadership role leading and managing complex organization change and performance improvement in a Population Health role
  • Strategic planning and/or working with population health concepts or in a clinical program preferred
  • Experience in care innovation/management desired
  • Effective rapport-building and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to take initiative and manage time effectively.
